There are plenty of reasons to learn another foreign language: it opens up employment opportunities, it gives you a better understanding of the country’s culture and it also enhances your cognitive and analytical abilities. The more languages you know, the better you can express yourself.
Why is it important to learn Spanish? Spanish is usually considered the world's second most spoken native language, after Chinese. If you are able to learn it, you will have a jump start in understanding other Latin languages such as French, Italian or Portuguese.
In year 7, students are able to understand and use familiar expressions in Spanish, introduce themselves and ask and answer questions about personal details. They learn new vocabulary related to the following topics: family, professions, food, clothes, furniture and habits. These contents give them the opportunity to continue improving their level of the language in the next years.
In year 8, students are able to understand common everyday phrases and expressions related to areas of experience that are especially relevant (basic information about themselves and their family, shopping, places of interest or occupation).
